MoC Data Integration Platform

About the MoC Data Integration Platform

Code for Japan works with residents, local governments and companies to solve local issues and build cities together. Our MoC (Make our City) Data Integration Platform is based on FIWARE and designed in line with the Smart City Reference Architecture recommended by the Cabinet Office of Japan. It is listed in the Digital Agency's catalog of digital services for regional revitalization, and can be rolled out step by step, starting from pilots, to help create new services for residents.

What Make our City Aims For

Smart city projects are under way across Japan, but sustainable services for residents require residents' own participation. MoC adds resident-led city-making to the smart city approach. Through data use that grows from "me" to "us" and on to the whole city, we aim for the well-being of the community as a whole.

Under the national government's Digital Garden City Nation initiative, local governments have been building data integration platforms. MoC focuses especially on smaller local governments, expanding usable data and ensuring interoperability, and supports an environment where residents, local governments and companies can take an active part in city-making.

Strengths

  • Low-cost to introduce: built on FIWARE and AWS, with technical support from experienced engineers.
  • Open source and open data know-how: drawing on projects such as the Tokyo Metropolitan Government COVID-19 website, we support open source development on the platform.
  • Partnerships through MoC-Ready: we work with companies and organizations to provide practical data and solutions that are ready to use.

The MoC-Ready Program

MoC-Ready builds an ecosystem of data and services compatible with MoC, so that cities do not depend on government alone. MoC-Ready Services certifies software services that connect to the platform and use its data. MoC-Ready Data certifies sensors or data platforms that meet the requirements for registering data on the platform. Current lineup: Datashelf by Info Lounge Inc.

  1. Inquiry: companies interested in the program contact us through the form, and we arrange a meeting.
  2. Application: after the meeting, a sandbox environment is provided to test data connection and services during a trial period.
  3. Review: once approved, you receive the MoC-Ready logo kit and are added to the lineup, then connected to the standard environment for use by local governments.
